Former Tiger Brandon Clahassey Continuing Ministry
Former Tiger, Brandon Clahassey, continues to excel in his ministry. Clahassey who goes by the stage name of “Beacon Light” recently spoke to Coach Gary Bailey to catch up on things. “Brandon has a unique gift and it has been great following his ministry,” said Bailey. “I asked him to send me an update so I could share it with everyone.”
Beacon Light was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. During his youth he attended an Urban Christian School called The Potter’s House where he learned about Christ and also grew accustomed to the Hip Hop culture. After transferring to the Public School system for High School and with some family problems at home, Beacon drifted away from the Lord. During his rebellion he picked up some musical interest and began using his talent for the wrong reasons. He made it his goal to be the “white boy” at parties who would beat anyone in a rap battle, and he often cursed God while doing it.
At age 19, God grabbed a hold of Beacon and began to turn is life around, including his music. He began attending open gyms at Grace Bible College and talked to Coach Bailey about joining the team. He would play for three seasons and win a National Championship and be named to the All American team. He would go on to graduate from Grace. In July of 2010 Beacon Light released his debut album entitled Overcomin’. He has performed with many seasoned artists in his genre including Lecrae, Flame, Trip Lee, Group 1 Crew and many more. His live performances are engaging and he keeps the crowd involved. Beacon is also on the worship team at his home church, The Edge Urban Fellowship (a Hip Hop Church in Grand Rapids) and he incorporates an attitude of worship during his concerts that is unseen among most rappers. His primary goal is to give glory to the only man who deserves any at all, Jesus Christ.
Thanks Coach!!! I appreciate you man! Hope all is well! Let me know if you ever need anything (prayer, scrimmaging, coaching, whatever).
