Alaska Trip Day 3 – By Allen Durham

Men's Basketball Media Day 094Hello Grace Family!

Today started off a little rough.  I found out that one of my teammates doesn’t know the difference between a moose and a horse.  That’s OK.  I plan to work with him on that.  He thought he saw a moose while we were sight seeing and we circled  back around only to find out that it was a horse with a blanket on.

Today was warmer than the other days.  It was only -1 outside so we decided to go sight seeing.  We drove out to look at the Alaska pipeline.  It was pretty cool.  We only stayed about three minutes because it was so cold.  We took a few pictures then returned to the warm vans.  It is the team bonding that counts!

Tonight’s game was a tough loss and pretty hard to swallow.  We held the lead for the entire game but UAF tied it in the final seconds and we lost in overtime.  It’s OK because we know we played hard and learned a lot. We feel like we are better because we played the game.

I’m glad we are coming home.  It’s not the same without the rest of my brothers.  We could only take a traveling team to Alaska because of budget and seven of my teammates stayed back in Michigan.  We will all be able to thaw out at the end of finals because we are going to Hawaii for two games this weekend.  All of the hard work picking squash this fall will now be worth it.  We had to do a bunch of fundraising this year to pay for the trip.

Gotta go, the break from studying is over.  Back to work!
