On Thursday, October 6th, the men’s basketball team will be split into two teams and play a game as an introduction to the 2011-12 season. On the same night, in this same game, two friends will battle for bragging rights as the honorary coaches of the 7th Annual Blue/Gold Game. Greg Heath, Vice President For Business & Finance at Grace Bible College, will coach the Gold Team against Blue Team Coach, Scott Edwards, Vice President at Gentex.
“Each year we select coaches for the teams and let them do battle,” said Coach Gary Bailey. “This year, the two coaches selected are friends and the trash talking began the day they found out they had been selected to coach. Greg has been a great friend and supporter of the athletics here at Grace and we are really happy to have him lead the Gold Team. He is taking it very serious and has been to some open gyms to watch the guys play. Scott has also been a great friend and supporter of Grace Basketball and Grace Bible College. He has already requested to stop by at one of our first practices to watch his team play. It is fun for me to sit back and watch the players under the direction of someone else. I may want to sit at the scorers table instead of in the stands this year to witness these two coaches going at it.”
