Allen Durham was named NCCAA II National Player of the Week for his outstanding play during last weeks games. The Wyoming Park graduate scored 15 points and had 7 rebounds in only fifteen minutes of action against ACCA Nebraska Christian, 23 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks against #17 ranked NAIA foe William Penn University, and 25 points 18 rebounds in GBC’s win over NCAA II Ferris State University. “Allen is a great kid with a great work ethic and he deserves every award that is given to him. It’s fun to have such a great person receive this award and be recognized for his hard work,” said Coach Gary Bailey. “He had a great week against some of the best competition we face. Besides his play on the court Allen has also volunteered his time to help some local schools with their fund raiser, visited a boys home to help them with their basketball skills, and took a weekend with the team to help a bunch of elderly people up north get fire wood in for the winter. Allen is well grounded and it shows.” Allen is the son of Monica Durham of Wyoming, MI.
Allen is only the third player in GBC history to receive this award, Kirby Bailey in 2004 & 2006 and Tom Vanderwaal in 2005.
