Tigers Defeat Undefeated Ancilla College 83-80

It was the tale of two halves this afternoon as the Tigers coming off a sluggish first half which saw the Tigers fall behind by as much as 15 points, put together a great second half, and hold on to win 83-80  “ The game started as I expected, we had the overtime game last night, we probably didn’t get back on to campus until 10:30pm, and then had to be back in the gym by 1:00 the next day for the shoot around.  Needless to say we looked pretty tired in that first half.” “At halftime Coach Herlein made a list of things that we weren’t doing and all of them came back to effort, once we get after it, the game really started to turn.” explained Coach Oldebekking after the game.

The Tigers were able to overcome a great shooting performance by Alexander Hutson who led all scorers with 28 points including a 30ft three pointer to tie the game at 80-80 with 15 seconds to go.  “We played perfect defense that possession, # 2 had to shoot it from real deep, but he is a great shooter, and he buried it.” “I was confident that we had a play we could score on the other end with however.”  Score they did and Jake Blauwkamp scored and got fouled with less than 6 seconds to go, making the free throw to ice the game.

Jake Blauwkamp led the Tigers with 21 points, Cameron Cramer checked in with 18 points.  Coach  O wanted to make sure Travis Rader got special recognition, “Travis played 44 minutes the night before, and then today, he got forced into point guard duty, a position he has never played before and he played great.” “I am really proud of him.”
