Grace Bible College's season ended in a OT thriller against Maranatha Baptist Bible College. This game had all the makings of a classic. Maranatha took the lead 1-0 in the first half. David Kyulu-Burgess looked to even the score on a brilliant move and shot but push the ball just wide of the the net. Grace pushed on and was able to level the game in the second half. The goal came from Caleb Befus, assisted by David Kyulu-Burgess. It was a brilliantly struck ball finding the upper corner of the net evening the score. Grace pushed on and continued to create chances and defending well. Jared Jones took a shot from outside the eighteen that hit off the cross bar. Maranatha was a tough opponent, but thanks to great defense including Seniors Steve Nelson and Pete Cappon, as well as Juniors Josh Herlein and Paul Nelson. Keeper Josh Rumenapp had to make a couple phenomenal saves denying Maranatha. Grace continued to work hard but could not get another one in regulation. For a second straight day Grace Bible College was going to head into overtime. The OT continued on as the previous 90 minutes, both teams playing hard, looking for ways to crack each others defense, and Maranatha finally did. There was a scrum inside the eighteen and a Maranatha player was able to get onto the ball and leave no doubt with a finish into the bottom corner of the net. Grace Bible College ends its season with a 9-9 record. This last game was played hard by every GBC player. GBC thanks seniors Steve Nelson, Pete Cappon, Cameron Townley for all they have given to the Grace Bible College soccer team.
Grace Advances to Regional Semi-Finals
Grace Bible College advanced to the Mid-West Regional Finals by defeating Lincoln Christian College 2-1 in OT. The Game was played extremely hard by both teams. Grace went ahead 1-0 on a goal by Cameron Townley. The score remained that way until the second half when Lincoln was able to net the tying goal. As the game went on it became more physical and intense, creating little opportunity for both opponents. It was 1-1 at the end of regulation. In the "Golden Goal" overtime, Freshman Carl Getty took a shot with 7.7 seconds remaining in overtime. The shot was struck well and the Lincoln keeper was only able to get a hand on it but it wasn't enough, Grace wins in dramatic fashion 2-1.

Grace Bible College Tops Finlandia University 5-1
GBC defeated Finlandia University on Friday, Oct. 17th by the score of 5-1. Grace fell behind early on from a well struck ball. Though creating most of the chances, Grace was unable to find the net in the first half in spite of out shooting their opponent. In the second half Grace Bible College found the net and made good on their chances. David Kyulu-Burgess beat the Finlandia keeper to tie up the game. From there on the pressure GBC was putting on the opposing defense was too much. David Kyulu-Burgess was able to net two more completing his "hat-trick". GBC Win in Lansing against GLCC
Grace Bible College blanked Great Lakes Christian College today by the score of 4-0. David Kyulu-Burgess opened the scoring by putting a low hard shot into the bottom corner. Freshman Carl Getty then put Grace's second on the board when he took a shot from outside the eighteen putting it into the upper ninety, giving GLCC's keeper no chance. The game was physical and hard fought. GBC went down to ten men early in the second half when one player was questionably straight red carded by the official with no real explanation. The game could have gotten out of hand, but Grace Bible College was mentally strong and played smart, and netted two more goals, both scored by Brandon Herlein. The first was a nifty move around the keeper which he then finished. The second he fought off the GLCC defender and made good on the opportunity. Grace's defense played well, keeping Great Lakes off the score sheet. Steven Nelson, Paul Nelson, Adam Wolf, Josh Herlein and Nick Caito all played well in the shut out, giving Keeper Josh Rumenapp little to do.
