Grace Advances To Regional Finals
The GBC Tigers advanced to the NCCAA II Midwest Regional finals with a 85-75 win over rival Northland Bible College. Grace was led in scoring by Jimmy Booth with 19 but again had a very even scorebook. mike Boone had 12, Dan Hosteter and Dan Dame 11. Paul Nelson added 5 assists. " I told Coach Wehry (Northland) after the game that I would have to wait ten minutes after the game to celebrate the victory because his kids don't ever stop playing until they are in the locker room" said Coach Gary Bailey. "Northland's players just never give up and that is why we have had some great games over the years. They are a class act every year." Grace will take on Maranatha, a 71-70 winner over #1 seed Kuyper College, in the finals at 2:00pm on Saturday.
Tigers Win First Round Game In NCCAA Regional Opener
The Grace Tigers opened regional play with a convincing 97-66 win over Emmaus College from DuBuque, Iowa. Grace put six players in double figures with Dan Hosteter hitting 20, Jimmy Booth 18, Mike Boone 16, Paul Nelson 13, Brandon Herlein 11, and Dan Dame 10. Dan Hosteter pulled down 10 rebounds and Matt Jamieson dished out 5 assists. Jason Irwin led Emmaus with 32 points in his final college game. GBC shot 57.5% for the game. In the other games, #4 seed Maranatha - 72 #5 seed Lincoln Christian - 68 #3 seed Northland - 67 #6 seed Moody - 66 #1 seed Kuyper - 97 #8 seed Great Lakes - 47 The regional games continue tonight with Grace taking on Northland at 6:00pm and Kuyper facing Maranatha at 8:00pm in the other semifinal game.
Fremont Home School & GBC Team Up For Practice
The Fremont Home School Mustangs, coached by Kent Karnemaat, visited Grace on Monday night to join in a practice session and some great fellowship. The Mustangs ran with the Tigers for two hours and did a great job. The players from both teams went over offenses and defenses to prepare for their respective tournaments. "It was great having the Mustangs and Coach Karnemaat here," said mens coach Gary Bailey. The Mustang players worked very hard and seemed to learn a lot from their time here. They picked up things very quickly. It was also great that both teams and the coaches could sit down together for a great meal." GBC starts regional tournament play on thursday at 6:00pm in the Aldrich Center.

Tigers Finish Regular Season With Win
The men's basketball team evened their season record at 16-16 with a 101-80 win over Andrews University. The Cardinals came into the game winners of their last six out of seven. With the regional tournament beginning next week, GBC needed to put together a good win. "We worked very hard last week and were ready to play tonight. It was the first game since November 10th that we have had a full roster. Injuries have really hurt us this year but tonight we were clicking very well," said Coach Gary Bailey. Mike Boone led Grace with 20 points, Paul Nelson 18, Dan Hosteter 17, Brandon Clahassey 15, and Jimmy Booth 12. Dan Dame led Grace with 10 rebounds and Brandon Herlein had 6 assists.
Tigers Sign Nate Karnemaat
Grace Bible College has signed Nate Karnemaat for the 2008-09 basketball season. Nate is a 6'9" forward/center out of Fremont Home School. This year Nate is averaging 20.8 ppg, 15 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks for the Mustangs. Coach Gary Bailey had this to say about his new recruit..."Nate is a wonderful young man, very intelligent, with a bright future at GBC. He has tremendous skills and will help us immediately next year. He has a great touch around the basket and great timing and footwork. It will be fun watching him next year. It has been a pleasure getting to know Nate and his parents, Kent and Kim, over the last couple of months and we are excited to have them as a part of Tiger Basketball". The Karnemaat's live in Fremont, Mi with their children Nate, Trent, Spencer, Justin, Will, Gillian, Hope, and Victoria. Nate is planning on a business major.
Grace Falls To Davenport
The Tigers lost a 107-54 decision to Davenport University on Monday night. "They definitely aren't the same team we played earlier in the year", said Coach Gary Bailey. "They absolutely shot the lights out tonight". Grace took it's last lead at the fifteen minute mark and was outscored 41-9 at one point. The Tigers shot a dismal 30% for the game.
