White Team Fights Back For Win In 2008 Blue/Gold Game
In this year's Blue/Gold Game, the White Team, led by Honorary Coach Brent Mallo, came from 30 points behind to win in the final seconds 91-86. Freshman David Steenstra hit four free throws in the final minutes to seal the win. The Blue squad, led by Honorary Coach Arlyn Bohl, jumped out to a thirty point lead in the first half on 65% shooting and went into the locker room with a 21 point lead. After the break, the White team came out firing and began cutting into the lead. They claimed their first lead of the game with only 58 seconds remaining to play.
Sophomore Allen Durham led the White team and all scorers with 39 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Ryan Krombeen added 20 points, 6 assists and 9 boards and Freshman Bryce Stanhope added 16 points and 9 rebounds.
The Blue team placed five guys in double figures and was led by Freshman Matt Kurtz with 24 points. Freshman Cory Jamieson added 20, Junior Brandon Clahassey 14, Sophomore Dan Dame 13, and Freshman Nate Karnemaat 12. Clahassey and Kurtz each pulled down 10 rebounds.
