Bachelor of Science Degrees

The Bachelor of Science Degree is awarded upon satisfactory completion of four years of prescribed academic work. This degree can be pursued with concentrations in the areas of Biblical Studies, Missiology, Youth Ministry, Interdisciplinary Studies, Human Services, and Early Childhood Education.

Biblical Studies
The Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies provides an opportunity for students to develop a program of study designed for their personal needs, academic interests and career objectives with particular emphasis on preparing the student for Seminary training (M.A. or M.Div.). This program is designed to give students exposure to the foundational areas of general education, a basic understanding of Bible and theology, and preparation, although limited, for Christian service at any level as well as a seminary education.

Missiology
The Bachelor of Science in Missiology is designed to give the student an understanding of the biblical, theological and historical foundations of missions, to develop skills necessary for cross-cultural ministry and to be encouraged and challenged for the task of world evangelism. Students seeking licensing with the Grace Gospel Fellowship should pursue the Bachelor of Theology in Missiology.

Youth Ministry
The Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministry is a four-year degree program designed as preparation for the student who anticipates graduate work or for whom the requirements of this program are sufficient for entering into ministry. The student should gain an understanding of youth characteristics and culture, effective means of relating to and ministering to young people in the local church and through parachurch endeavors, and gain experience in teaching and counseling youth of junior and senior high age. This program does not entitle one to begin the ordination process with Grace Gospel Fellowship.

Interdisciplinary Studies
The Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies provides an opportunity for students to develop a program of study geared to their personal needs, academic interests and career objectives. The program is general in nature and designed to give students exposure to the foundational areas of general education, a basic understanding of Bible and theology, and ministry studies. An important element of this program is the number of undesignated electives, which allow students to select courses which either serve their particular interest or enable them to prepare for a specific career requiring a broad range of knowledge.

Human Services
Grace Bible College considers human services to be a profession and an area of study that is concerned with efforts to aid people in fulfilling their emotional, mental, physical, social and spiritual needs. The human services major is designed to provide an understanding of helping and healing relationships. The curriculum is interdisciplinary, designed to prepare students for entry-level work in a variety of social agencies after graduation. More advanced degrees may lead to professional administrative and clinical positions. Students will gain practical skill and knowledge during their practicum experience in a local agency.

Early Childhood Education
The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, offered in cooperation with Grand Rapids Community College, is designed to prepare students for roles as teachers, directors and supervisors in day-care centers, nursery schools and other pre-kindergarten educational settings. Opportunities are available for the student to study and observe children of various ages, to assist in teaching in early childhood settings and to gain understanding of the dynamic process of physical, psychological, social and intellectual development. Specifically, the program addresses the relationship of affective and cognitive learning, physical and intellectual development, acculturation and socialization, school and home environments and curricula for young children.
